SANTA ANA, CA – November 8, 2023 – The Declaration of Intention period for candidates for judicial offices of the Superior Court has been extended until November 13, 2023, 5 p.m. for the offices listed below for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election, because the incumbent failed to file Declaration of Intention papers by the November 8, 2023 deadline.

The offices are: Superior Court Judge, Offices Number 3, 16, 35

Any qualified person, other than the incumbent, can now file the Declaration of Intention papers and pay the filing fee until November 13, 2023, 5 p.m., in the office of the Registrar of Voters, 1300-C South Grand Avenue, Santa Ana, California. Business hours are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To be qualified, a candidate for the office of Superior Court Judge must be a registered voter in California and have been a member of the State Bar or served as a judge of a court of record in California for 10 years immediately preceding selection. The filing fee for the office is $2,323.99.

Candidates for Superior Court Judge must file a Declaration of Intention before they file Nomination Papers and Declaration of Candidacy forms.

Starting November 13, 2023 through December 8, 2023, 5 p.m., Nomination Papers and Declaration of Candidacy forms for all offices may be obtained from and must be delivered for filing to the Registrar of Voters’ office. No person shall be considered a legally qualified candidate for any office unless that person has filed a Declaration of Candidacy or Statement of Write-in Candidacy with the elections official.
