Election Day Countdown

Election Day is just four days away

With Election Day just around the corner we have begun the process of distributing polling place supplies to our poll workers. As seen in this photo we have over 1,100 supply boxes that will be distributed throughout the county.

Ballot Scanning Underway

We began the process of scanning vote-by-mail ballots on May 23rd. Since that time we have scanned over 75,000 ballots. We will post vote-by-mail results at 8:05 p.m. on Election Night.

Poll Worker Recruitment

Our recruitment of poll workers is down to the wire - unfortunately we receive last minute cancellations and must replace people quickly before Election Day. So far we have recruited 4,851 poll workers.

Preparing Ballots for Scanning

Once opened ballots are prepared for scanning

This team at our office prepares ballots for scanning once they have been removed from the envelope, which is an automated process. Each of these four person teams prepares, on average, 3,500 ballots per day.

What Happens When Polls Close on Election Night?

Once polls close at 8 p.m. on Election Night poll workers work quickly to shut down their polling places and prepare equipment for delivery to our office. Polling place supervisors take their supplies, including ballots, to one of 33 sites throughout Orange County. Once checked in these supplies are returned to our main office under the guard of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
