Public Hearing on Vote Centers on August 29th

We have completed all of our Vote Center public workshops (28 in all) throughout Orange County. We are now compiling all of the public input as we prepare our draft Election Administration Plan in advance of our public hearing on August 29th at 6 p.m. (at the Orange County Department of Education).

We will be including a two-page full color spread in each Voter Information Guide for the March 2020 primary, which will focus on everything voters will need to know about the Vote Center transition (including locations, how to access services, when to vote, options and more). This will be in addition to multiple direct mailings to voters.

We are preparing a robust outreach campaign in order to saturate Orange County with communication regarding the transition to Vote Centers. This plan includes 70 social media videos, broadcast advertising and multiple direct mail pieces to voters. Alexandra Diaz has been brought on board as our "Vote Center" spokesperson in our campaign.

Our Community Election Working Group (CEW) is our 25-member advisory board for our election operations. This group is made up of diverse members from throughout the community. They play an integral role in informing our office on our Vote Center plans. Our next meeting is August 8th and is open to the public.

Ballot drop box placement is a critical element in our Vote Center planning. This new drop box, recently placed in Pierce County, WA, is a good example of the types of configurations we are exploring (to allow drive-through drop off from the driver's side window) for parking lot placements.
