David Charobee has been working at the Registrar of Voters office since the June 2012 Election. He worked as Extra Help as a Ballot Processor in the June 2012 Primary Election and as an Office Assistant assisting with Recruitment in the November 2012 General Election. David was hired permanently in February 2013 as a Community Program Specialist in the Election Services Unit. Prior to joining the Registrar of Voters, David worked as an Intern at the City of Stanton Parks & Recreation Department and the City of Lake Forest Economic Development Department.
David is responsible for the recruitment of polling places and poll workers for the South area of the County. He is responsible for overseeing about 250 polling places and over 1,000 volunteers. When recruiting polling places, David must secure the best desirable polling places for Election Day and complete accessibility surveys to ensure they are accessible for voters with disabilities. In addition, David participates in community outreach events, including MyBallot and speaking engagements.
The best thing David enjoys about working at the Registrar of Voters is the opportunity to promote democracy and getting people involved in the election process. Followed by the teamwork, mutual support and seeing the hard work put in by volunteers who make the entire thing possible. One of his most memorable moments while working at the Registrar of Voters, is driving to a polling place in Newport Beach to help a new group of poll workers complete early set-up the night before Election Day November 6, 2012 General Election.
