ยป How much did the addition of the VVPAT system cost and who pays for the added costs?
The initial purchase of the eSlate voting system cost $26 million. The VVPAT retrofit will cost approximately $12 million. Proposition 41 and Federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) monies provided initial funding of the system in 2003 and 2004. The Orange County Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of the mandated VVPAT in 2006. Additional funds are expected to be applied to the purchase from HAVA funding.
