Voting-by-mail allows a voter to submit their ballot for a given election by mail. However, you must first request that a mail ballot be sent to you. There are different vote-by-mail options; see below. It is very important to remember that the voted ballot must be received-not just postmarked-by the Registrar of Voters no later than 8:00pm on Election Day. Late ballots cannot be counted!

One-time requests are election specific. If know you will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, you can request a ballot be mailed to you.
A permanent vote-by-mail voter designation means that we will mail your ballot for every election. You can only be removed from this designation if you request to do so in writing, or if you do not return a ballot for two consecutive General Elections.
You may be eligible to receive an overseas vote-by-mail ballot for a particular election if you are temporarily residing outside the United States.
You may be eligible to permanently receive an overseas vote-by-mail ballot if you are permanently residing outside the United States.
You may, if circumstances provide, request an emergency vote-by-mail ballot up to 6 days prior to an election.
