ANYONE WHO BECOMES A CITIZEN ON OR BEFORE THE 15-DAY CLOSE OF REGISTRATION (May 19, 2008) MUST FOLLOW THE REGULAR PROCEDURES FOR REGISTERING TO VOTE.

ANYONE WHO BECOME A CITIZEN AFTER THE 15-DAY CLOSE OF REGISTRATION, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE BELOW:

A new citizen, for voting purposes, is any citizen who meets all requirements of an elector of, and has established residence in, the state of California, except that he or she became a United States citizen (completed the swearing in ceremony) after the 15th day prior to an election but on or before the 7th day prior to the election.

To vote under the next citizen procedures, you must do so in the office of the Registrar of Voters. You will be required to show proof of citizenship and declare that you are a California resident. You will then complete a registration affidavit to become a registered voter for future elections. Once you are registered, you will be given a ballot for you to vote at that time in the Registrar of Voters office.

To vote under these provisions for the June 3, 2008 Primary election, you must complete the swearing in ceremony between May 20, 2008 and May 27, 2008. Once you have participated in the ceremony, go to the Registrar of Voters office to register and vote.
