» Welcome to the Latest Orange County Poll Worker Connection Newsletter                                            We are often asked, “What do you do between elections?” Typically we respond that there is always an election taking place. There inevitably is one election after another and they merely vary in size and scope. We spend a lot of time in the community educating the public about elections and how countywide elections are logistically more complex than putting on the Super Bowl.  In fact, it is like opening 1500 new stores, taking care of staff, supplying them, supporting them and breaking them all down the same night while having the receipts come out 100% accurate.

Neal Kelley, Orange County Registrar of Voters

» November 2006 Poll Worker Survey Results              You may remember that we distributed poll worker satisfaction surveys in the supply box for each polling place for the November 2006 election. The results are in and we wanted to share what you had to say.

You have identified communications as an area of improvement for our office. Communication was listed as non-effective to fairly effective 33% of the time. We assure you that this issue will be addressed prior to the 2008 elections cycle. And although it is a high percentage at 85%, we believe we can strive for a better result on voter satisfaction.

» New Registrar of Voters Display at the OC Fair
Once again the Registrar of Voters will be attending the Orange County Fair. Our booth this year will be a bit different than what you are used to seeing in the past. Our mobile voting unit will be brought into the County building and will offer high tech voter education. We will have interactive displays and our electronic voting systems available for demonstration. Citizens will also be able to check their registration status, register to vote and volunteer to be a poll worker. Please bring family and friends to visit us at the Fair which takes place from July 13th to August 5th.

» Poll Worker Availability Letters Going Out      Believe it or not it is already time for us to see where we stand for the 2008 election cycle. You will soon receive a letter that asks about your availability for the three elections in 2008. For each of the elections in 2008 we will need to increase our volunteer base to approximately 9,000 from over 5,000 in November 2006. Please return your completed availability form to us as soon as possible. Reserve your spot now and lock in your opportunity to be part of Presidential elections history!
