The ROV has recruited 5,772 poll workers for the Presidential Primary.
The ROV has 349 County employees willing to work as County Poll Workers for February 5th.

Asian Garden Mall in Westminster has been advertising voter registration deadlines on electronic message board.


We have been busy at our office and to date have received 992 ballots at our Santa Ana office.

      
Media inquiries have been growing daily from news organizations throughout the country as we approach Election Day (34 in a 60 day period).

» 53,000 Ballots Received in Just a Few Days        This morning, as shown at left, we were loading tens of thousands of vote-by-mail ballots in our mailing sorters.  In just a few days we have received 53,000 ballots which have been pouring into the office.  We expect this trend to continue to grow as we approach Election Day.  By law we can begin to process these ballots on January 25th (which we will do).

» Midnight Event Will Allow Citizens to Register to Vote Just Before Deadline
Our office will be open until midnight this coming Tuesday, January 22nd to accept last minute voter registration cards.  Voters must register by midnight in order to participate in the upcoming February 5th Presidential Primary election.  Voters can drive into our parking lot at Grand and McFadden in Santa Ana from 5pm - 12am.

Following the "Top-to-Bottom" voting system review by the Secretary of State our voting system was re-certified subject to these terms.

The election to fill the vacancy on the Anaheim Union High School District Board will take place on February 5, 2008.  This calendar notes major milestones.
» Phone Bank Up to Full Capacity
As of this morning our new phone bank was up and running with a staff of 30 operators to handle the large volume of calls inbound.  Over the last 24 hour period we have handled 1,978 calls with an average wait time wait time of less than a minute and an average call length of 54 seconds.  Volume will increase to 6,000-8,000 per day by Election Day.
 
» Tally Room Improvements Underway                     In response to the new Secretary of State requirements we have improved our tally room (where the votes are assembled for tally and reporting).  The new area will allow the public to see all locations within the room.  In addition, monitors above the room will display what is on the tally computer screens, streaming video and election results.

» New ID Card System and Security in Place for February                                                                 Our facility on Election Night will be under tighter security than in any previous elections.  In response to the Secretary of State's guidelines we will be working closely with our election partner, the Orange County Sheriff's Department, to provide high security as we receive election returns.  In addition, we will be utilizing a new ID system for Election Night access only.
