The ROV has recruited 4,656 poll workers for the Presidential Primary (on our way to 5,400).
The ROV has 227 County employees willing to work as County Poll Workers for February 5th.

The ROV has recruited 1,119 poll sites for February 5th on our way to 1,119.

  
Today, November 9th, is 88 days prior to the election.  Today is also the last day an item can be placed on the February ballot.


An electronic media kit is being developed for our launch of the new sample ballot for February. A preview will be in next week's edition.

      

Work will begin Monday on the addition of clips to the back of the VVPAT printers to protect them during transport to the polls.

  » Recruitment of Poll Workers Kicks Into High Gear For 2008 we will need nearly 30,000 volunteers to staff the three major elections we will be conducting.  Shown at left is just one of our many new recruitment communication pieces we are using throughout 2008.  Interest in the presidential election is always high and this year we're expecting to process nearly 2.5 million voters at the polls.

» Decline-to-State Voters Receive Postcards Requesting Their Choice in Party Ballot
Last week we started to received some of the 65,000 post cards back in the mail (shown at right) from Decline-to-State (DTS) voters.  We mailed to all permanent vote-by-mail voters who are DTS.  They have the choice of receiving their ballot as non-partisan, Democratic or American Independent.  For the Republicans it is a closed primary.

» Orange County Retirement Board Election Conducted This Past Week
On Tuesday we processed thousands of ballots for the Orange County Employee Retirement Board election.  Ballots were returned to our office during the election period and were prepared and scanned on Tuesday.  Registrar of Voters, Neal Kelley, will be taking the results of the election before the Board of Supervisors on November 20th.
 
» Upgrading Poll Sites to Improve Accessibility
Shown at right our ADA Accessibility Teams prepare to set up ramps and equipment at poll sites throughout the county.  We have been testing our new ramps in advance of the election to make sure the equipment fits and that the required slopes are within acceptable limits.  We will be upgrading about 150 sites throughout the county.

  » What's In A Battery?  Keeping An Election Up and Running                                                                       Each eSlate voting booth has a battery pack which provides back-up power on Election Day.  We are currently testing 10,000 of these battery packs in preparation for the February election.  The proper operation of the batteries is essential to the election process.
