Election Results FAQs

ยป Can I see how many vote-by-mail ballots have been returned for the February 2, 2010 Mission Viejo Recall Election?

We will be releasing the "raw" count of returned vote-by-mail ballots for the November 4th election.  A "raw" count is the number of vote-by-mail envelopes returned each day from the United States Post Office.  This number will not be the final count since some vote-by-mail ballots are returned (as an example) without signatures, valid signatures, or do not contain ballots.

Until the vote-by-mail ballots are verified and opened, an "actual" count cannot be determined.  This takes place during the final days leading up to the election (not tallied) and in the days following.  The "actual" count will be included in the unofficial election results after each vote-by-mail ballot has been verified as valid.
