This is an important and critical step in our Election Night processing.  Until the polls close and the poll site Inspector physically transports the Election results to the collection center we cannot begin the process of Election Night reporting.

The minute the Inspector arrives at one of 23 collection sites throughout Orange County a supervisor on scene verifies that all of the poll site supplies have been returned.

Collection center staff unload the equipment and supplies out of the Inspector's vehicle and transfer them immediately to a waiting van which is staffed by the Orange County Sheriff's Department (whose roll is to assist in maintaining security of the Election Night results and to transport the supplies to the Registrar of Voters' office).

As the van departs for the Registrar's office the driver notifies Registrar of Voters' staff and Sheriff's personnel that they are enroute.  Once the equipment arrives at the Registrar's office the van is offloaded and the equipment is scanned in as having arrived.  The live ballots will be sequestered into a secure location which is protected by Sheriff's personnel.
