How will a winner be declared in this election?
Special rules apply to legislative vacancies as set forth in California law. In the primary a winner is declared if that candidate receives at least 50% of the votes cast plus one vote. If no candidate receives 50% plus one vote, then the top vote getter from each party would advance to a special general election.
Will there be a Primary and a General Election?
If no candidate receives at least 50% plus one vote in the Primary, then a Special General Election will be held.
