The public review period for candidate statements to be placed in sample ballots and ballot designations for the First Supervisorial District Vacancy Election has ended.
Notice is hereby given that a Special Election will be held on February 6, 2007 within the First Supervisorial District of the Orange County Board of Supervisors to fill the vacancy in the office of First District Supervisor from said district arising from the resignation of office by Lou Correa.

Accuracy testing of Orange County’s voting system was completed today for the November 7, 2006 General Election and the systems proved, once again, to be 100% accurate. Law requires the test, known as the Logic and Accuracy test, to be performed prior to each election.
In order to allow greater flexibility in voting for the November 7, 2006 Primary Election the Orange County Registrar of Voters has extended its office hours. The Registrar will also accept voted absentee ballots for voters that wish to drop them off that day.
The Orange County Registrar of Voters would like to remind absentee voters (Vote-by-mail) to apply the proper postage to their absentee ballots prior to mailing them. Some ballots in Orange County are large enough to require more than $.39 postage.
Accuracy testing of Orange County’s voting system will take place tomorrow for the November 7, 2006 General Election. The test, known as the Logic and Accuracy test, is required by law to be performed prior to each election.
Many ballot types in Orange County are extremely long for the November 7, 2006 General Election. Voters may see up to 16 screens on the electronic ballot. A longer ballot means voters will spend more time in the voting booth thereby increasing lines at the polling places.
The Orange County Registrar of Voters would like to remind absentee voters (Vote-by-mail) to apply the proper postage to their absentee ballots prior to mailing them. However, we have an agreement with the Postal Service that if insufficient postage is inadvertently applied the absentee ballot will still be forwarded to the Registrar of Voters office.
The Orange County Registrar of Voters will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2006 to allow new citizens the ability to register and vote for the November 7, 2006 General Election.
The deadline to register to vote for the November 7, 2006 General Election is Monday, October 23, 2006. In their ongoing effort to increase voter registration in the County of Orange the Registrar of Voters is extending its office hours on that day.
The Registrar of Voters will launch their completely transformed website on October 20th at a large outdoor event on the campus of the University of California, Irvine. Secretary of State Bruce McPherson will join Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley in formally launching the updated website www.ocvote.com. .
Beginning October 20th, 11 Early Voting sites will open throughout the County of Orange. Early Voting is a service that has been consistently available to registered Orange County voters since the 2004 elections.
The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until August 16, 2006, 5:00 p.m. for the offices attached, because the incumbents failed to file nomination papers by the August 11, 2006 deadline.

The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until March 15, 2006, 5:00 p.m. for the offices listed below for the June 6, 2006 primary election, because the incumbents failed to file nomination papers by the March 10, 2006 deadline.
Neal Kelley, Orange County’s Acting Registrar of Voters, announced today the legal requirements and deadlines for candidate filing for the April 11, 2006 Special Election Senate District 35 and the June 6, 2006 Primary Election.
Today the Orange County Registrar of Voters certified as insufficient the seven petitions to recall each of Capistrano Unified School District’s board members. The petitions did not meet the number of qualified signatures needed to place a recall on the ballot.
The Acting Orange County Registrar of Voters, Neal Kelley has been handpicked to act as an official observer for the Iraqi Election.
