Orange County Voting Systems To Go Through Routine Testing
SANTA ANA – May 23, 2007 – Accuracy testing of Orange County’s voting system for the June 5, 2007 Special Municipal Election has been scheduled. The tests, known as the Logic and Accuracy test and the 1% Manual Tally, are required by law to be performed for each election.
Logic and Accuracy tests include proofing the programming of the ballot, each ballot style and each contest position on the ballot. The Logic and Accuracy tests are performed by Registrar of Voters staff.
The 1% Manual Tally tests are hand counts of the ballots that measure the actual voted ballots to the machine count. The precincts to be used for the 1% Manual Tally will be selected at random and the actual test will take place beginning the day after the election. The 1% Manual Tally is performed by Registrar of Voters staff with the assistance of volunteers from the Orange County community.
The Hart InterCivic eSlate has proved to be 100% accurate in tests performed each election. The eSlate was first used in the 2004 election cycle.
The Registrar of Voters invites all interested parties to witness the tests that are open to the public.
