Public Review Period Closes for Candidate Statements For the First Supervisorial District Vacancy Election

SANTA ANA, CA January 8, 2007 – The public review period for candidate statements to be placed in sample ballots and ballot designations for the First Supervisorial District Vacancy Election has ended. The election, being held to fill the seat of Lou Correa who was elected to the California State Senate in November, will be held on February 6, 2007.

Now that the public review has ended the Registrar of Voters is able to have the sample ballots and the absentee ballots printed and mailed.

“Voters in the First District will notice the compressed timeframe in which they receive their sample ballots and absentee ballots for this election,” said Neal Kelley, Registrar of Voters. “This is due to required time constraints in the County Charter and the Elections Code,” he continued.

The process of mailing the sample ballots will begin this week.

The last day to register for this contest is January 22, 2007. The last day to request an absentee ballot for this election is January 30, 2007.
