Registrar of Voters Reminds Absentee Voters to Apply Proper Postage to Absentee Ballots

SANTA ANA, CA October 25, 2006; The Orange County Registrar of Voters would like to remind absentee voters (Vote-by-mail) to apply the proper postage to their absentee ballots prior to mailing them. However, we have an agreement with the Postal Service that if insufficient postage is inadvertently applied the absentee ballot will still be forwarded to the Registrar of Voters office.

Some ballots in Orange County are large enough to require more than $.39 postage.

“We have worked very closely with the United States Postal Service to ensure that all ballots will be delivered to the Registrar,” said Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley. “No ballot will be returned to sender for insufficient postage,” he continued.

All ballots must be received by the Registrar of Voters by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 7, 2006. Ballots received late will not be counted. The post marks will not be taken into account to determine eligibility of the ballot.
