Registrar of Voters Increases Office Hours for November Election Registration Deadline

SANTA ANA, CA – October 21, 2006 – The deadline to register to vote for the November 7, 2006 General Election is Monday, October 23, 2006. In their ongoing effort to increase voter registration in the County of Orange the Registrar of Voters is extending its office hours on that day. Normally opening at 8:00 a.m. and closing at 5:00 p.m., the Registrar of Voters will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 23rd.

The Registrar would also like to remind voters already registered that if they have moved, changed their name or would like to change their political party affiliation it is necessary to fill out a new registration form.

Registration forms are available at various locations around the county including post offices, libraries, schools/colleges, city halls and the Registrar of Voters office.

The Secretary of State estimates that there are 1,829,349 citizens eligible to vote in the county. There are currently 1,485,258 registered voters in Orange County (81.2%).
